DENVER -- The father of a 7-month-old son who drowned in a bathtub has been charged with child abuse resulting in death, the Denver district attorney said Wednesday.

Thomas Ashley, 46, was bathing his son Isaac, and left him unattended in the tub while he took out the trash and made a phone call, said Denver DA spokeswoman Lynn Kimbrough.

Firefighters were called to Ashley's home when but were unable to revive Isaac, she said.

Ashley was released on a $100,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 14.

This is just so sad... makes me wonder though, who doesn't know that you can't leave a baby in the bathtub? Was he just totally stupid and careless or did he do this on purpose?

I think he did it on purpose. He's older and has more "life skills" than a 15 year old girl. He knew better. Kids demand a lot of attention and I think he just wasnt willing to give it to this poor child.
