Adam Maynard can't take a hint

Police have issued an arrest warrant for a high school student accused of stalking a girl he met at a party.

Charleston police were called to George Washington High School after a female student there complained of receiving death threats on her cell phone via text message, according to a complaint filed in Kanawha Magistrate Court.

The messages allegedly were from a male she had met at a party a week before, the complaint said.

Police identified him as Adam Maynard, the complaint said.

The student told officers that Maynard had been sending her text messages repeatedly asking her out on dates.

She said when she refused Maynard, he got upset, according to the complaint.

An officer reviewed the messages and found multiple threats, many of them violent.

Police said in the complaint that Maynard is a student at Sissonville High School. His age was not listed in the complaint.

You know, in my perpetual quest to determine what I want to do with my life, I've been throwing around the idea of criminal psychologist (which would be wickedly ironic, considering my thoughts on psychology in general). I would LOVE to analyze the mechanisms behind behavior like this. I can understand getting upset (like "sad") by rejection... but I don't see how the leap to violently threatening is made.
