I had to re-read 3 times, headfirst, what why wtf, huh....

What a callous cruel bitch. These people that crack under pressure are demented to begin with. There has to be a test for these underlying issues in potential parents, come on.

I smacked my son on the thigh once after he spit carrots in a complete strangers face at the supermarket and was throwing an all out tantrum he was 2 at the time. I got my self together after the humiliation and left our groceries. I was so upset with his behavior, he did not accompany me to the supermarket anymore. I told him when he could act like a good boy in public he could. He always behaves when we go now, thankfully :D Point is I felt bad for the smack which barley made him cry, how can you hurt your child????

Idiots. Everyone knows you got to wait untill their at least 7 years old in order to be an efficent fire poker. At that age you can stand far enough away from the flames to not get scorched.

They dropped the charges down to "injury to a child"!!!

I think the DA forgot she is dead for fuck sakes.

Decatur (CBS 11 News) ― She's accused of killing her three-year-old daughter, but a North Texas woman is no longer charged with capital murder.

Charges against Jaclyn Pennington have been reduced and some family members are upset about the development.

The Texas Rangers thought there was enough evidence to charge Pennington with capital murder when they initially arrested her. But the Wise County District Attorney didn't think she could prove that crime beyond a reasonable doubt so she reduced the charge.

Court documents claim that Pennington admitted to throwing her daughter head first into a fireplace back in February. Taylor Rae Baker, 3, died later of internal injuries at Cook Children's Medical Center.

Last week the D. A. submitted the case to the grand jury as "injury to a child" and that's how the indictment was returned.

"Where's the death part? She's buried. She's not here. She didn't get better at the hospital and come home. She's not with us no more," said Watson Tape, Taylor Rae's paternal grandfather.

Now, instead of being held on $1 million bail, Pennington could be freed on a much lower bond when she is arraigned in a few days.

I had briefly front-paged Jaclyn Pennington back in February. I thought at the time about giving her a full article of her own, but it was a big babykiller day, so I lumped her in with some other guys.

I've made up for that a little now, I hope:

So they did eventually get this crime classified as murder...

A Decatur woman was sentenced to 25 years in prison Thursday after she pleaded guilty to the murder of her 3-year-old daughter in February of 2008.

Jaclyn Renee Pennington, 26, entered her plea in 271st District Court in Decatur in exchange for the 25-year sentence. The case had been set for trial next month.

The case involves the death of Pennington's daughter, Taylor-Rae Baker. The exact circumstances of Baker's death are not known.

"We've got 10 different stories from (Pennington)," said District Attorney Greg Lowery.

The only witness at the home was Pennington's other daughter, who was 5 at the time.

Pennington was arrested two weeks after Baker's death, and she has remained in jail.

In May 2008, a Wise County grand jury indicted Pennington for first-degree injury to a child.

Lowery said that the case was re-indicted last week as a felony murder, and a plea agreement was reached.

Pennington will have to serve at least 10 1/2 years of her sentence before she is eligible for parole, he said.

Baker's family is satisfied with the judgment, Lowery said. I would have rather seen her convicted on the injury to a child and faced up to 99 years. 10 1/2 years and she will get a parole hearing...she can still pop out more victims if she on the very off chance gets parole the first time around...fat chance!
