15-year-old Milwaukee girl gang raped over 5 days?

Milwaukee police are investigating a 15-year-old girl's report that she was raped by 10 or 11 youths in a vacant home in the 4400 block of N. 53rd St. over a period of five days.

Police recovered a number of items from the home including the girl's purse and used condoms.

I would definitely like to hear more details about this before I make a judgment about this girl's truthfulness. At this point, two red flags are raised for me.

1. When I was 15, if I was missing for five days, my parents would be making a huge stink about it. This report is the first I've heard.

2. Used condoms? It's not unheard of for rapists to use condoms, but...

I'm with you as far as wanting to hear more details before passing judgement.

However my guess is she was with her Boyfriend/ or decided to runaway from home over that period, and needed a story to get out of trouble with Mom or Dad.....

Although given the beat down people have gotten by thugs over the years....Charlie Young comes to mind- this is possible too.....

It's kinda fucked up that so many people lie about rape that we have to question the authenticity of others claims. I understand the need for it, it's practical, but I hate it for the ones who have to go through it that have actually been raped.

Exactly. People who lie about it make it even more difficult for people who have actually been through it to report it.

True many rape reports turn out to be false, but countless others are never reported. I think we should be more inclined to believe rather than to be swayed to believe she is lying because of cases of false reports.

I for one would like more info. It never occurred to me at this stage not to believe her. Why should I? is it fashionable amongst young girls to cry rape? Gosh, I hope not. I would think the stigma alone is a deterrent. At this point I just want the facts and after reading it I do have questions.

The girl said she was waiting for a bus on the corner of Sherman Blvd. and W. Keefe Ave. at about 8 p.m. April 24 when a youth, whom she described as being 16 or 17, offered her a ride in his car. She accepted, and he drove her to the home and used a key to enter. The house, she said, was vacant and did not have electricity.

The girl said the youth called others and 10 or 11 young men. She said they all sexually assaulted her. She said they used their cell phones to provide light to see what she looked like. The girl told police she wasn't allowed to leave until she was given a ride home the evening of April 28.

My first though after reading this is, did the young girl try to flee? at some point she must have realized he was not taking her where she wanted to go.

I was in a questionable situation at about the same age and took a ride by a stranger, yes, I know stupid. But my father wouldn't pick me up. He told me to walk home. The man was older like way older and I was terrified and had my hand on the door at all times ready to jump out. Had he at some point started driving me else where, I would have jumped out for sure. Something I'm curious about in this case but might not be a detail we would see written up. And it in her case this was a young man, not some scary way old geezer. Maybe she was persuaded to go by promises of a party/drugs/alcohol?....who knows.

Upon arriving at the house did she realize she was in danger? did he convince her to stay for whatever reason? or was she subdued quickly even before getting in the house? I'm sure the investigators will be asking a lot of questions and I hope to read more on what exactly happened.
