Two Boone County women were arrested on drug charges - after they allegedly swapped some pills while sitting in a courtroom to face prior charges.

Samantha Lynn Cain, 25, and Angel Marie Curry, 25, were each charged with three counts of delivery of a controlled substance and one count of conspiracy, according to the Boone County Sheriff's Department.

The women had appeared in Boone County's drug court, an alternative sentencing program, and were still sitting in the courtroom when sheriff's deputies saw them passing pills back and forth, according to the department. According to the criminal complaint, they were charged with delivery of hydrocodone, diazepam and butalbital, all controlled substances.

The women were sent to Southwestern Regional Jail in lieu of $20,000 bond each.
