A man who doused his girlfriend
and a baby in petrol has been jailed for
one year and four months.
Ross Cameron, 30, from Bankfoot in Perthshire, also set one of the four-month-old girl's jackets on fire and poured fuel over her pram on Hogmanay.
A court heard he had a previous conviction for a similar incident.
The court heard that an argument broke out between Cameron and his girlfriend Lisa Melloy, who he pushed out of the house.
She went back into the home to get the baby's jacket, but Cameron snatched it from her, poured petrol over it, set it on fire with a cigarette lighter and dropped it in front of her.
She kicked the burning jacket away, but Cameron approached while she was still holding the baby, poured petrol over her clothes and shouted: "See how you like going on fire."
Miss Melloy ran away and Cameron chased her, pouring petrol over the pram and more fuel over her.
The court was given a letter from Miss Melloy which
stated she believed Cameron was going to set her on fire and kill her and the baby.
She also said that
she would allow Cameron back into the house if he was freed and blamed his behaviour on his medication.
