Amber Varnold Got Frustrated With Crying Baby

Amber Varnold has been sentenced to serve five years in the Missouri Department of Corrections with 120 days shock incarceration.

Varnold pled guilty in February to one count of child endangerment.

The infant's grandma spoke on behalf of the family saying there's no way of knowing if the injuries will cause further problems down the road.

“The type of injuries that my grandbaby received can take up to five years to appear with these types of head injuries usually causing permanent disabilities to the victims. Amber, you have admitted to willfully causing these injuries to our baby,” said Jeanie Drummond.

Drummond said Varnold has caused the family a lot of emotional and financial damage. She said they've spent over $3000 in medical expenses.

Drummond said the family was under scrutiny by health officials for days before Varnold confessed to the crime.

Police say 24-year-old Amber Varnold was baby-sitting the eight month old when the incident happened on April 1st.

Investigators say Varnold was frustrated because the baby wouldn’t stop crying, so first she shook him. Then, they say she got increasingly angry and hit the baby on the side of the head. The baby was later taken to the hospital with bruising and skull fractures.

Police say when the parents came to pick up their baby, Varnold didn’t tell them what happened, even after they asked.

Authorities say Varnold has had medical training and is in the medical field. She was released without a bond based on her own recognizance.

I'm not familiar with this term. I'm hoping it means that she is going to spend the entire 120 days being electrocuted with a cattle prod.

Must have been some "hit" to fracture the skull.
What the HELL is up with these idiots and their Myspace comments. Do they just add that stuff to remove all doubt?

I know! That or they are just too stupid to figure out how bad their comments make them look. Who feels "fabulous" after injuring an infant and being sentenced to prison? Seriously.

She has kids of her own. She should know that babies cry. How would she feel if this had happened to one of her own children? I could never, ever strike a baby, especially after having my own. This woman is missing something that makes a mother. I worry about her kids.
