$4.99 Fried Chicken Deal, almost sets off a riot at Minneapolis Popeye's.

LoL, Geeze , talk about pissed off people, Popeye’s isnt even that good. Most of the stores in other states ran out of chicken. And what the hell does Fried Chicken have to do with Earth Day????

Fracas Over Popeye’s Fried Chicken Price $5 deal nearly set off a riot at Mpls Popeye's

MINNEAPOLIS - Hundreds of customers were angry to find the Popeye’s on Lake Street in Minneapolis was not offering a national promotion.

For Earth Day, Popeye’s was offering eight fried chicken pieces for $4.99 -- a special well-advertised on TV in Minneapolis.

But homemade signs on the door at the Popeye’s on Lake Street said it wasn't honoring the nationally advertised special. Instead, they were offering nine pieces for $9.99

The line for Popeye's was out the door Wednesday afternoon and early evening. A half-dozen Minneapolis police officer showed up to settle the crowd down.

The Lake Street Popeye's is the only Popeye's in the state of Minnesota.

Customers said it's not the first time the franchise has refused to honor a nationally advertised special.

Our Popeyes did the same thing but as you pointed out it isn't that good, so no one rioted.

No idea Tazzz, but our local HyVee grocery store did the same thing for earth day, I went down there to get some milk, the store has never been that crowded and people were acting like idiots because the deli had run out of fried chicken and they had to wait 12 minutes until the next batch was done.

Really, I know the economy is bad, but saving $3.99 on an 8 piece chicken meal is not worth losing your mind over.

Needless to say, I ran to the dairy dept and got the hell out of there!!

With chicken quarters at 79 cents a pound around here, $4.99 is still a rip off. Did everybody forget how to cook or something? I missed the memo.
Sheevaa: I can understand...I got peed on for the first time and got all excited about it:P
DamagedGoods: mm... my meat smells damned tasty, it's a shame I've got another few hours to wait for it.
newstarshipsmell :Sorry, DG, but the Laerma nuts only grow on trees on the world of Dezoris in the Algol star system so unless you have a spaceship...

FFS it's chicken and as many have pointed out it's not even that good. If you're going to riot at least make it over something worth rioting for. People are so retarded sometimes.

That's a lot of commotion over a bucket of chicken.
