Father charged with attempted murder - toddler twin critically grabbed around throat

A man is being questioned by police after his two-year-old son was taken to hospital in a critical condition following an incident at their home south of Brisbane.

Police said they were called to the Collingworth Park home at 11.51am (AEST) on Sunday and arrived within minutes to find the boy seriously injured.

He was taken by ambulance to the Mater Children's Hospital in a critical condition.

The Nine Network reported the boy suffered serious head injuries and was also struggling to breathe and in need of oxygen after apparently being grabbed around the throat.

His twin brother was unharmed, and the father had been alone with his children at the time, Nine reported.

The 35-year-old man was assisting police with their inquiries, police said.

Jeez, beaten and choked by his 'daddy'. And Im guessing his twin witnessed the whole thing.

Bless him, I hope he recovers completely. What are the sentences like in Oz for a crime like this? Do they actually mean something, or is it just a stern telling off like in the UK?

Sentencing here is generally quite poor. Hardly a deterient. And whatever he gets he'll probably appeal and then get time off for 'good behaviour'. Its a joke for the crime really.

This guy is due to appear in court today (our time), will try and update later today if more info becomes available.

I hope and pray the poor little boy will be ok. I find it even sadder (if that's even possible) when twins are involved.

Stupid stupid stupid. So people realize that there is a better way to discipline children. And someone will find out if you choke your child. Makes ya wonder how long the abuse has been going on before it just went to far.

I... hate... people.

I know I talk about my work all the time. Whatev. :P I have a pair of two-year-old future sociopaths in my class (bless them, but seriously, my co-teacher and I have joked about selling tickets to their fights) and I can't help but superimpose their images on this story. I hope the little guy pulls through. No child deserves this sort of heinous treatment.

I hate people so much.

A MAN has been remanded in custody in Queensland over the alleged attempted murder and rape of his two-year-old son.
The 35-year-old man, who cannot be named, appeared in Ipswich Magistrates Court today charged with attempted murder, rape and indecent dealing with a child.

Police found the boy seriously injured after being called to a Collingwood Park home, southwest of Brisbane, on Sunday morning.

He was taken by ambulance to the Mater Children's Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

The man will reappear in court on June 10.

It hits me just the same every time I read a father has raped his own baby. It sickens, repulses me. People like this should have their junk cut of and let to bleed out, and I'm serious on that. I bet he did this in front of the other twin. Vomit....

Apparently the father was known to the mental health services, not sure of exactly how and the time frame etc at this stage.

Its just so sad and sickening. The poor little boy. And the poor other twin most likely witnessed this horrific attack. I just hope this was the first time this had occured. I hope the other little boy was never attacked in the past.

I've heard no mention of the mother at all. I find that a little odd. They haven't said she was out or anything but just that he was alone with the children when this occured.

Hate and vomit, all I have to say. Fathers raping their toddler sons (or babies or any kids for that matter) always makes me wordless and breathless. I just don't understand.

Hope that both of the twins heal, both physically and mentally. Placed in a loving, caring home with devoted and understanding foster parents that could happen. I know, how likely is that. I really do hope.

Jeez, this just gets worse doesnt it?

These kids are going to need a lot of help to deal with this in the future. If the abused child lives, he is going to grow up very disturbed and resentful of the fact that it happened to him and not his brother.

The other one is going to grow up thinking ''it could have been me he chose to rape and abuse''. And he will no doubt feel guilty that he escaped the abuse while his twin suffered.

Its alway going to be with them that their POS 'father' just randomly chose one of them to violate.

It just makes me so angry that these bastards can do this to kids. And frustrated that they usually walk away with a slap on the wrist. It also makes me shudder to think that, had the first child not been so badly injured during his attack, he would likely have moved on to the other one too. Filthy, depraved, baby-raping bastard!

I agree with Silva, cut off their junk! Or better yet, hand them a rusty knife and make them cut it off themselves!

Do we have an update to this baby's condition?

I have a question. Is it possible this baby was beaten so badly it caused damage that would appear to be caused by rape? Was the other child examined, and has he also been abused?
