A Dothan man has been arrested for allegedly abusing a seven-month-old baby. Twenty-nine-year old Jamie Abrams was booked under a $200,000 bond.

Investigators say the infant has second degree burns over 50 percent of her body from being placed in hot water.

The baby was taken to a Dothan emergency room Saturday before being airlifted to a Birmingham hospital.

A local man has been charged with aggravated child abuse after an infant in his care received burns over 50 percent of her body on Saturday.

According to information from Dothan police, Jamie Abrams, 30, of Denton Road, was arrested Wednesday on the felony charge. He was booked into the Houston County Jail under $200,000 bond.

The incident occurred at a residence in the 2300 block of Denton Road. The seven-month-old victim was taken to a local hospital and was later airlifted to a hospital in Birmingham. The investigation showed the burns were the result of the infant being placed in hot water.

The Dothan Police Department was assisted by the Geneva County Sheriff’s Department in the investigation.

Can you imagine the anguish this little baby was in? I wouldn't have been able to contain myself had I been the responding officer/paramedic.

How is it that anyone would burn a baby? really, it will not get the baby to stop crying, it will only cause screaming in anguished cries....so, wtf?? Sick, sadistic bastard.

Man Convicted of Burning Infant in Dothan, Ala.

DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) -- A jury in Houston County has convicted a 31-year-old man of child abuse involving burns suffered two years ago by a 7-month-old boy.
The jury deliberated nearly two hours on Tuesday before convicting Jamie Alan Abrams.
Assistant Houston County District Attorney David Atwell said the boy was burned while Abrams gave him a bath.

Atwell said medical evidence in the case proved the boy likely received the burns from something more than hot bath water.
Attorney Tom Smith, who represented Abrams, said his client made statements he'd put the child in the tub for a bath, and left to go answer the phone.

Yeah, that's the part that had me beating my head against the wall. Good God! You know that the baby was screaming bloody murder the second any part of his little body hit that water. And the dumb fuck just walked away to answer the phone? I think he should be sentenced harshly for putting the baby in the water and also for STUPIDITY, for walking away like nothing was wrong, to answer a phone, if that's what he actually did. Stupid assed douchebag!

I often wonder why people do this. We hear a lot of excuses from people who beat and neglect their kids, but I have yet to hear why they would intentionally burn a child. (we only hear it was an accident) For once, I wish one of these fucks would own up to their shit and try to explain why. Not that it would justify anything, but I would still like to know.

When their arms get too tired from all the beating & shaking, they have to settle on scalding their kids in boiling bathtubs.....thats my guess anyways!
