Taipei -- A 10-month-old girl in Changhua County yesterday sustained second-degree burns over 90 percent of her body after her father threw her into a pot of boiling water during a fight with his girlfriend.

As of press time, the girl was still in critical condition in intensive care after being sent to the emergency room at Changhua Christian Hospital.

The man, surnamed Huang, 47, has been arrested for attempted murder.

Reports said the man threw the girl into the pot of boiling water during an argument with his girlfriend after she challenged him do so.

Witnesses said the couple have had a rocky relationship since they started living together 12 years ago. The man frequently came home drunk, they said.

The couple runs a noodle shop and often has pots of boiling water around. They have three children together, a neighbor said.

It was reported that the mother immediately scooped the girl out of the pot and rinsed her body with cold tap water. She did not realize the severity of the burns until she tried to lift up the girl’s dress and saw that her skin had meshed together with the clothes.

By the time the ambulance came, the girl had blisters all over her back and some of the skin on her arms and legs was peeling off, a police officer said.

A little off topic but I wonder how this couple got past the one child law? Changhua is a regulated area unlike the very rural areas. The only way they could get past this law is if they are not Han Chinese...which makes up about 95% of the populace.

Sadly this child will most likely die but one good thing about China....the parents may likely be put to death. Anyone who dares someone to kill their child and the other person take them up on it doesn't deserve to exist.

Jesus Fucking Christ (and believe me I hate saying that) that poor baby, can you just imagine the pain she must be in. She must have been crying full of screams in pain, bless her heart. I mean I know the pain I'm in just burning my hand, finger something small/minor to me hurts like shit so just imagine the pain. My guts all most came all over the place after reading this it hurt me so bad. You know when we what shows where witches are stirring a brew in a huge pot, well I want to put that fucking father who in my book isn't a father in one full of boiling water and let him stay in there for quite sometime before he is pull out. Let's see how he fucking likes it he is literally a worthless piece of shit scumbag that doesn't fit the definition of a father which is loving, caring, meeting the needs, and a whole lists of other things for your children. Taipei is in the Republic of China (Taiwan) not in the People's Republic of China (Mainland China). I had to look Changhua up to make certain; but it checks out.

I don't think they have the "one child" policy in Taiwan, or at least if they do the penalties for having more children are not nearly what they would be on the mainland.

My bad, I got it mixed up with Changdong (also spelled with an S).

You're right, Republic of China does not have populace restrictions on it and does not fall under Mainland rule. Sadly this means they probably don't have the hardcore punishment that China has for "people" like this. Too bad...I've read that "death by a thousand cuts" can be excruciating.

A 10-month-old baby girl who was dumped by her father into a pot of boiling water Saturday in southern Taiwan's Changhua County remained in critical condition as of yesterday morning in the intensive care unit of a local hospital.

The infant's mother, identified only by her family name of Lin, scooped her out of the pot and rushed to a nearby police station for help, whereupon officers immediately sent her to the Burn Center at the Changhua Christian Hospital.

The baby girl, who suffered second degree burns over 95 percent of her body, deteriorated overnight and had to be placed on a respirator as she could no longer breathe on her own, doctors said Sunday, adding that although she was being given fluids, the prognosis was not good.

First of all, what kind of mother would "challenge" her boyfriend to throw a 10 month old baby in a pot of boiling water?? That is just fucked up. What is also messed up is the fact that he actually did it!! What the hell is wrong with them??

This is just so sad. The baby's skin was "meshed together with the clothes", poor baby. That has got to be the worst pain that anyone could feel. Especially a 10 month old baby. even the wood chipper is too good for these two... i say we give them papercuts all over their bodies, millions of them. dip them in rubbing alcohol, and continue to re-dip them every few minutes for an hour. once that's done, heat up nice big pot over a fire with oil, then in a second pot, water. dip them in the boiling water first, leave them only for a few moments...pull them out, dip them in the rubbing alcohol, then into the oil.. just when they think they can't stand anymore pain, systematically stick them in each of their non-vital organs with a bamboo skewer...then dip them in oil again (want to make sure they're nice n greased up).. pull them out, make sure the cuts are still open and bleeding, then toss them into a vat of salt water.(cold salt water)....

only then, would i even begin to think they might be getting what they deserve..

A baby girl was pronounced dead Tuesday, three days after her father threw her in a boiling pot of water during a domestic dispute.

The 10-month-old girl, surnamed Huang, died of multiple organ failure at Changhua Christian Hospital at 10:05 a.m. as doctors took her off a life-support system.

She suffered second- and third-degree burns over 84 percent of her body when her father threw her into the hot water during a drunken quarrel Saturday. The severity of the burns made recovery virtually impossible, said Chou Chih-chung, the hospital’s Emergency Department Director.

On Monday, medical staff called it a miracle that the baby still survived the burns for more than one day. On the relatives’ request, the caregivers did not perform electric shock therapy or heart massage on the baby because those techniques might be too painful, reports said.
After the girl’s death, the father could face homicide charges carrying a prison sentence from 10 years to life or the death penalty, reports said. “Under the Child Welfare Act, any sentence will be increased by 50 percent because the victim is a child,” Changhua Chief Prosecutor Chang Huei-chiung said.

Honestly, I agree that the baby is better off. I can't imagine the pain the poor girl suffered, and would have continued to suffer, over and over again. It's heartbreaking to think about.
