A 5-year-old boy was
bitten on the cheek by his mother because he was not eating fast enough, according to an arrest affidavit.
The alleged bite from his mother,
Zhifang Chen, occurred as she prepared her two children, ages 7 and 5, for school. The bite left obvious teeth impressions on the right side of the child's face, the affidavit states.
The marks were noticed by the victim's teacher when he went to school and the teacher notified authorities and the Department of Children and Families.
When contacted by a deputy, Chen, 29, said she did not intentionally harm her child and that she was "just playing around," an affidavit states.
She was arrested at the Dunkin Donuts at the intersection of Spring Hill Drive and Mariner Boulevard on a charge of child abuse. Because the charge is domestic in nature, no bond was set.
Chen was born in China and is not a citizen of the United States, according to an affidavit.
