A Moorhead man is accused of
assaulting three people – including a 3-year-old child.
Leroy Clifford Edwards made an initial appearance in Cass County District Court on eight charges, including four felonies, related to the March 12 and 13 incidents.
Edwards, born in 1991, is accused of
throwing the boy against a wall, choking a woman and threatening her with a knife and repeatedly kicking and punching another woman in the face.
One woman told police that Edwards
dragged her out of a bar, punched her 10 to 12 times in the face and then repeatedly kicked her, saying “I love you” as he did so
on March 13.
Edwards has
a long juvenile history,
including convictions for serious violent crimes, prosecutor Ryan Younggren said Monday.
One violent outburst at a hospital resulted in a broken arm for a technician, said the assistant state’s attorney.
Edwards told Judge Steven Marquart that Younggren’s recommended $50,000 bail was too high.
“There’s no way I can come up with that much money,” he said.
Marquart set bail at $50,000 cash or bond.
The Cass County Jail would not release a mug shot of Edwards on Monday, stating that he is a juvenile.
