CLEARFIELD -- Police say a 23-year-old man tampered with a witness when he sent text messages to his accuser that called her a obscene word and said "drop the charges i will find you."
Patrick M. Garner faces six first-degree felonies for attempted rape of a child, sodomy upon a child and aggravated sex abuse of a child, as well as a third-degree felony charge for tampering with a witness.
Garner was booked into jail April 7 after a Clearfield Police investigation. He received a bail amount of $100,000 from 2nd District Judge Michael G. Allphin the next day.
The Davis County Attorney's Office filed the charges April 9.
The criminal information written by Clearfield investigating officer Denise Hernandez claims Garner molested a female under the age of 14 between January 2003 and January 2007. Garner "occupied a position of special trust in relation to this female," the information says, a category that includes family members, teachers, religious leaders and other trusted invididuals.
Garner is scheduled to appear before Judge Rodney S. Page Friday for a bail hearing.
