David Earl Thomason
WEED — A 54-year-old Weed man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly tried to strangle a 76-year-old man whom he believed had mistreated a dog.
He also later tried to hit a sheriff’s deputy with a racquetball racquet while resisting arrest, a Siskiyou County sheriff’s spokeswoman said today.
David Earl Thomason was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, making threats with the intent to terrorize, battery causing serious bodily injury, elder abuse, assault on a peace officer and resisting arrest.
Thomason was apparently furious at the unidentified 76-year-old dog-owner after one of his dogs was found running loose in a harness with a 10-pound weight attached to it, said sheriff’s spokeswoman Susan Gravenkamp.http://www.redding.com/news/2009/apr...lowing-dog-di/Gravenkamp said the elderly man told deputies that his dog, a Pyrenees mix, has a habit of jumping over the fence at his property and that he had read that a harness and weight would prevent the dog from doing so.
It's not known how the dog, as well as another that was with it, were able to get out, she said.
