    James Ayers needed a ride to detox



    Tampa police say James Ayers, Jr. kept calling 911 saying he was drunk and needed a ride. An operator told him police would come take him to detox, but he needed to stop calling 911.

    When police arrived at 2610 N. 40th St. to give Ayers a ride, they say he opened a beer in the back of their car.

    Police charged James Ayers Jr. with misuse of the wireless 911 system. He also was ticketed for possession of an open alcohol container, police say.
