A Mount Vernon registered sex offender, wanted for new charges of rape and sexual exploitation of minors, was arrested near Moses Lake after leading police on two high-speed chases there last week. Paul L. Gordon, 30, is
accused of having large parties with minors at his Mount Vernon home where the price of admission often was a requirement that the young girls expose their breasts as he took photographs. He provided alcohol to the young teens and
had sex with a 16-year-old girl without her consent, according to Skagit County Superior Court documents.
In Gordon’s bedroom,
he had photos of the youths’ bare breasts hanging in the form of a swastika (
WTF!?!), court documents say.
Gordon has two previous convictions for third-degree rape of a child. In 2001, his victim was 14 years old, and he was 22. In 2003, his victim was a 14-year-old, and he was 24 years old, according to the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office sex offender Web site.
Gordon is listed as a Level-2 sex offender. He had been living in the 15000 block of McLean Road in Mount Vernon, where the most recent crimes are alleged to have occurred. He recently moved to the 1600 block of Barrell Springs Road in Bow.
In March, a youth pastor and an employee of Skagit County Youth and Family Services who knew some of the victims reported the parties at Gordon’s home where alcohol was served to minors and a sexual assault had occurred, court documents say. Court documents detail several parties at Gordon’s home over several days in mid-February. During one of those parties, a
16-year-old girl who had been given orange-flavored vodka, woke up to Gordon having sex with her, according to court documents.
One 17-year-old girl who had been drinking was trapped in a bedroom by four men, including Gordon. Gordon took pictures of her breasts, then showed them to the rest of the party, court documents say.
Gordon also used a knife to cut the underwear off of one 15-year-old girl, court documents say, and girls as young as 13 were given alcohol.
On March 25, Skagit County Superior Court issued a warrant for Gordon, charging him with four felony counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of second-degree rape of someone incapable of consent — either physically helpless or mentally incapacitated. Later that day, a Moses Lake police officer tried to stop Gordon for a traffic violation in Moses Lake. Gordon sped away from the officer, leading him on a chase, reaching speeds up to 70 mph in residential neighborhoods with a 25 mph speed limit, said Grant County Undersheriff John Turley.
Gordon sped through a field, damaged a garden and the front end of his 1995 black Dodge Ram pickup, Turley said. The officer did not follow Gordon through the field and lost sight of him. A short while later, a Sheriff’s Office deputy spotted the vehicle and Gordon began another chase. “
It lasted for quite some time,” Turley said.
Finally, about 45 minutes after the incident began, deputies found Gordon in a random home, Turley said. Gordon is now charged with three felonies in connection with the chase — eluding a police officer, reckless endangerment and resisting arrest. It is unknown when he will return to Skagit County for prosecution.
