A former Gainesville resident who was arrested on child pornography charges Thursday has been named a suspect in the case of a man taking photographs of a woman using a Home Depot restroom earlier this year.

Timothy Gene Malone, 30, who recently moved to Lake Butler from 3100 SW 35th Place in Gainesville, was arrested Thursday and charged with possession of child pornography, reproducing child pornography on a computer, and promoting sexual performance by a child. He told police that he was an unlicensed tattoo artist.

In Malone’s arrest report, Detective Joseph Mayo wrote that the case began when the person who sublet Malone’s apartment was moving a metal tin. During the move the contents of the tin fell out. The contents included more than 100 pornographic photos of children.
The materials were turned over to police, who served a search warrant at the apartment. During the search, Mayo said several hundred pornographic images were found, some that were printed photographs and some on compact disks. Most of the girls depicted appeared to be between the ages of 2 and their early to mid-teen years. In some photos the children were involved in sex acts with other children, and in other photos they were involved in sex acts with adult men, Mayo said.

Mayo said Malone is also a suspect in the Feb. 18 restroom case. The incident was partly documented in a series of images taken by surveillance cameras.

Investigators said that when the woman saw a hand holding the cell phone in a way that allowed it to be used to take pictures she screamed and the man ran out.
“That’s a video voyeurism case that he has admitted to, and we will be charging him after we complete the paperwork,” Mayo said on Friday morning.
Police said they are concerned that there may be more victims of various sexually related incidents involving Malone.
