Frank Tregoning was drunk & high driving crashed & killed a pregnant woman

Charges have been filed against an Otsego man in the death of a pregnant woman in a rollover accident.

Twenty-one-year-old Frank Joseph Tregoning was charged with six counts of criminal vehicular homicide in an accident that killed a pregnant woman and severely injuring another passenger on August 21, 2008.

According to the criminal complaint, Tregoning was drunk and high at the time of the accident.

Jamie Baer, 21, was pregnant at the time of the accident and had to be cut out of the vehicle that rolled 10-15 times. Her baby had to be delivered in an emergency c-section and Baer subsequently died of her injuries September 15, 2008.

Tregoning was traveling at a high rate of speed in a Ford Mustang when he tried to pass a vehicle on Interstate 94 near Highway 101 in Rogers last August. Witnesses say Tregoning was driving approximately 100-120 miles per hour.

The car carrying Tregoning, Baer, and another female passenger, Kelsey Palmer then rolled 10-15 times according to witnesses to the accident.

Tregoning was ejected from the car and found a short distance from the vehicle. Baer and Palmer were trapped inside the vehicle and had to be cut from their seatbelts to be removed.

Tregoning had a blood alcohol content of .10 at the time of the accident. THC and morphine was also detected in his blood test.

The baby born to Baer had to be placed in life support following her birth because she was more than three months premature. The baby continues to suffer complications from the crash.

According to the State Patrol, alcohol was detected in all three passengers according to the incident report.

Son of a bitch, he needs to seat his ass in jail and rot for life. I'm glad the baby survived but sorry to hear it still suffers with complications. This is a horrible accident that should not have happened. This fucktard should not have been driving when are they going to learn not to drink, drugs and drive.

Why is it these dickheads that cause these accidents never seem to die, it's the innocent party that does?!

    Jamie Baer and daughter, Angel.
In the final moments before the accident that took Jamie Baer's life, the 22-year-old cosmetologist frantically text- messaged friends: "I'm going 160 w a drunk drive m going to die."

    ...
According to the criminal complaint, Baer, who was texting from the back seat, and her friend, Kelsey Palmer, who was in the front, both had to be cut out of their seat belts. Tregoning, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle.

Palmer and Tregoning survived, but Baer was critically injured and later died.

"I was satisfied," with the bond, said Scott Baer, Jamie Baer's father. Baer and Jamie's mother, Kari Palashewski, were among about a dozen family members who attended the initial hearing Thursday afternoon in downtown Minneapolis.

Fallout from the incident continues to affect the family. Angel, Jamie Baer's baby, was delivered by caesarian the night of the accident only hours before Jamie died, and she remains in poor health.

"We've been trying to wean her off of oxygen," but with no luck so far, said Palashewski, who has custody of Angel. "We've been locked in the house since November 25th," when Angel came home from the hospital, Palashewski said.

When Kari Palashewski arrived at Hennepin County Medical Center last Aug. 21, it was to say goodbye to her 22-year-old daughter, who'd been fatally injured in a car crash. Hours later, Palashewski was saying a tearful and totally unexpected hello -- to a 1-pound, 12-ounce granddaughter born four months prematurely as her mother, Jamie Baer, lay in a coma at HCMC.

"Nobody knew Jamie was even pregnant," said Palashewski, the grief still evident in her voice. "I don't know if she even knew."

Her daughter died a few weeks later, never knowing she'd brought a new life into the world.

    I have that boppy.

According to the State Patrol, alcohol was detected in all three passengers according to the incident report.
I hope she didn't know she was pregnant, since she was drinking.

Maybe I'm a horrible person, but I have a hard time finding much sympathy for adults who knowingly get into a car with a drunk driver and die as a result.

I do have to agree with this and what Nell said about hoping she didn't know she was pregnant since alcohol was found in her system. I feel horribly for this baby and Jamie's family. She was very beautiful. I'm sorry that she had to lose her life over a very bad decision. If she knew that he was drunk and knew that he was on THC and morphine then she shouldn't have gotten into the vehicle with him. I'm not saying that it isn't his fault because he was the idiot driving at over a hundred miles an hour. But they should have not gotten into the vehicle with him and then if he drove anyway they should have called the cops.

That baby is one of the cutest babies I have ever seen before in my life.

I will join you in the little sympathy club... but I have a hard time with the horror once she realized her mistake. And I get all "puppies and rainbows" feeling about the miracle of the baby. Just interesting side notes in the story.

Heartbreaking. Why assholes feel the need to get behind the wheel after drinking, smoking, or whatever the FUCK they use is beyond me.
