Two Children Victims Of Horrific Abuse
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- Police in Springfield said a mother is in custody and her boyfriend is being sought in connection with the abuse of two children.

The childrens' mother, 24-year-old Heather Flaker, was charged with two counts of child endangering, tampering with evidence and obstructing official business. She is being held in the Clark County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

Police said a relative found Flaker's 5-year-old son running in the street with no supervision. They said he appeared to have been beaten.

Inside the house at 531 Chestnut Avenue, the child's aunt found Flaker's 2-year-old daughter strapped to a toilet. According to police, she also appeared to have been beaten.

Officers are searching for Flaker's boyfriend, Marcus January, 29. He is wanted on two counts of child endangering and two counts of abduction.

The children were treated at Mercy Medical Center. Doctors told police that both children had signs of new and previous abuse. They were treated and released into the custody of Children's Services.

Investigators said Flaker admitted that her boyfriend was abusing the children, but she said she did not report it because she was afraid of him.

Lt. Noel Lopez of the Springfield Police said there is evidence of repeated abuse. "They had bruising about the face, injuries to their backs, thighs and soles of their feet," said Lt. Lopez.

Neighbors on Chestnut Avenue are shocked. Robert Eldridge said, "It's upsetting someone would do something to a like kid like that."

Eldridge and other neighbors said they had no idea what was happening to the children. Emma Wolfcomer said, "Babies don't deserve to be beaten like that. They do something wrong, there's a correct way to punish them."

The children both had signs of being recently beaten -- the girl had blood on her face. They were treated at Mercy Medical Center, and doctors said there was evidence of past abuse as well.

This is a case where abuse is happening to mother as well. When I was a volunteer for a domestic violence hot line, one woman said...."I'm just too scared....he'll beat me too". This is before I had a chance to ask if she had children and if the children were in any danger. So obviously there was abuse inflicted on mother and the children alike. Far more woman more than not, were concerned about their children more than for themselves, but every now and then I'd get one who couldn't stop talking about her own safety and didn't seem all that concerned about the kids. Made me so mad, but I had to keep my cool to gather information, after all she was calling and because of that we now had a chance to stop the abuse for everyone.

I will never understand a mother who simply does not care enough for her childrens well being. I'd kill any mother fucker who touched my kids that way...ANY...no doubt, no hesitation.

I think most of us feel we'd trade places with our kids in a hearbeat if anything bad were to happen to them.

If I would gladly trade my life, I would certainly take a beat down. I can tell you what too, he may beat me down, but I'll get enough good ones in he'll think twice about continuing the beat down. Just like that, poof, you hate each other, the relationship is over and he's gone. Try it.

Those babies had family close to them. Why didn't she get out or at least send those babies to be with the aunt? What does she not understand about taking yourkids to the hospital and calling the police? He would have been arrested and in jail right now. Thank God those kids survived and we are not reading about more killing of kids.

I've been kinda catching up with all the threads and I feel overwhelmed...

There should be an island designed for all the baby (and by baby I mean all children) beaters/rapers/molesters/killers/torturers and the list goes on. In that island they could freely engage themselves in those acts with each other. Problem solved. And oh, the mothers who overlook their penises (peni????) doing this shit should be sent there as well.

Ok, I gotta admit, I kinda, for a second, wished they put a seat belt of sorts on training potties, but then a realized, you just don't buy a singing toilet. It sings when she tinkles, she stands up and starts clapping and dancing, while tinkling, and therefore sprinkling all over my floor. See the need for a seat belt? It'd just piss her off tho, and I spend my day trying to have a happy baby, so I bypassed that idea.

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- U.S. Marshals captured a man they said abused two children, even going as far as tying one to a toilet seat.

Police said they found Markus January on Friday night on Rice Street in Springfield.

According to police, January is Heather Flaker’s boyfriend and that he beat her 2- and 5-year-old children.

Police said one child was covered in dried blood.

Flaker is in jail after she was arrested earlier this week and police said she knew about the abuse but did not do anything about it

Agreed. I get pretty annoyed at these waste-of-life cunts and assholes that seem to keep on having babies all over the country (the world, no doubt).

Bear in mind I have no children of my own, but I cannot fathom how people can treat their kids like that, or allow others to do so either.

I don't have a clue if she took part in the torture of her kids, but I wouldn't be surprised in the least. I know I said I don't have kids, but I was in a LTR with a girl who had two, and I got to experience frustration, annoyance, and wishing they would please, please quiet down just for a little while...but that's just part of kids, accept it and deal with it sans physical/mental abuse.

If you can't deal with it, get out of that relationship. If you are the mom, put them up for adoption. If they are too old, call the police yourself, tell them "I am losing it, I'm afraid I am going to hurt my child/children. Please send someone." - Sure you might spend some time in a holding cell, if you're drunk or on drugs at the time you might get charges pressed against you and you might lose your kids..but you still did the right thing.

It's part of the psychology of abuse. Chances are the guy didn't start by outright beating her up. First it starts with mental and emotional abuse, tearing down another person layer by layer until they are vulnerable and pliable. Isolating them from any support structure helps quite a bit. And then you start re-programming them, reinforcing your control by fear and pain. By the time the beatings usually start, the abusers have the abused so submissive, and programmed that they will blame themselves for the abuse, and never even think to leave or try to change the situation. What you get is a prolonged mental, physical, and emotional torture situation. And people in those situations don't always react the same way they would if they hadn't gone through this.

I think that if most of these abusive fuckers just started off by beating the woman up, most of the women would leave, possibly whilst doing him great bodily harm. But they really don't usually start out that way. It's much easier to beat up someone when you're sure they're not going any where or going to report it because you've got them brainwashed.

I feel terrible for those kids. I feel terrible for that woman too. However, I also think there must be merit to her story or else she would have been charged with child abuse/neglect/failing to report abuse or neglect, or something. I have a very hard time blaming a truly abused person for attempting some semblance of self-preservation. I don't think that they are thinking or reacting clearly or normally because of the abuse, which can really fuck up your head.

I hope they throw that fucker in jail though, and put that woman and her kids in therapy and some kind of safe house. And I hope that they make sure that she doesn't get custody or unsupervised visitation until the support structure for her can be re-established and the therapist and courts are satisfied that she doesn't pose a threat to her kids, and that she won't become involved in an abusive relationship again.
