CLEVELAND --- Jimmie Jackson, 43, is accused of crawling through a window and raping an 11-year-old girl Nov. 16, 2002.

Jackson, already in prison for raping a younger girl, was brought to the Cuyahoga County Jail this week to be arraigned on the new charges.

Prosecutors say that Jackson crawled into the window on the 11-year-old's birthday and pulled off her shorts. She woke up and tried to get away, but he held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her if she screamed, prosecutor's spokesman Ryan Miday said.

He raped the girl and ran out.

She woke up her mother, who took her to a hospital. Nurses collected evidence, including semen. The DNA was entered into the FBI's CODIS database. It didn't match any known felons' DNA, until January, when it matched Jackson's, Miday said.

Jackson was indicted this month on charges of kidnapping, two counts of aggravated burglary and two counts of rape. He could be sentenced to life in prison.

He was convicted of rape on Sept. 23 for sexually molesting a 7-year-old. The girl's mother was having an affair with Jackson, Miday said.

Jackson was baby-sitting and molested the child. He was sentenced to seven years in prison on Oct. 23. His DNA was collected, now mandatory for Ohio felons, and entered into CODIS.

I was just thinking the same thing. Her birthday is ruined.

This happened in 2002. Holy cow -- that's 7 years. Thank goodness they were able to solve this and at least give the girl and her family some expectation that justice will finally be served. Hopefully that will be helpful for her in the healing process.

I hope they put this serial child rapist away for good and throw away the key. And the shanking part, that sounds good too.
