Northampton Township Police say a 14-year-old boy, whose name has not been released, was struck while riding his bike on March 20 along Temperance Lane.
When police arrived at the scene around 5:24 p.m., a man believed to have struck the boy on bike abandoned his disabled pickup truck for another nearby car and fled the scene.
Tri Hampton Rescue Squad transported the boy to nearby St. Mary Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition over the weekend.
About a half-hour later, police apprehended the suspected pickup truck driver, John Norton, 48, of Richboro. He, too, was taken to St. Mary Medical Center where blood samples were obtained for analysis.
The investigation into the crash is continuing. Officers are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or have relevant information to contact Ofcs. Martin Comyn or Marcus Wigler of the Traffic Safety Unit, or Det. Peter Stark, all of whom can be reached at 215-322-6111.
