Angela Bellifemini was found dead in her apartment.

Authorities are probing the murder of a 27-year-old Newton woman who was found stabbed to death in her Spring Street apartment on Saturday afternoon.

Newton police responded to the apartment at 12:30 p.m. and found Angela Bellifemini's body, said Detective Lt. Michael Richards in a press release.

An autopsy revealed she died from stab wounds to the neck, police said. Bellifemini was identified as the sole tenant of the apartment, police said.

It was unclear why police responded to the apartment on Saturday afternoon, or when Bellifemini was killed. No further information on her death was available on Sunday night.

    Omg!

This is a couple of towns away from me! It's very small typical American town, where you don't expect this type of thing to happen. Seriously, being out here is like living in the 1970's where people leave their doors unlocked. We are about 1 hr from NYC. Most people who live out here just enjoy the beauty of the country. Personally, 9/11 changed my way of thinking and I knew I did not want to raise a child in a big city. Well, guess what? it is all spreading like a big mushroom.

Once upon a time I thought the black bear where my biggest threat out here.
