The grandfather arrested for DUI and suspected of running over his granddaughter is out of jail on a $3,000 bond. At 1:21a.m. Sunday morning 51 year-old Anthony Woods was booked into the Mesa County Jail for vehicular assault, driving while under the influence of alcohol and careless driving resulting in injuries.
Troopers say just before 7p.m. Saturday night Woods and his son were working and drinking inside their garage on the transmission of a truck. According to troopers, when they were done Woods got in the drivers seat, turned on the Jeep and backed up running over the one year-old baby girl.
Troopers say at last ON check at 3a.m. Sunday morning, the baby was in the Intensive Care Unit at St. Mary's Hospital with a fractured skull. They report her bodily functions were working properly.
Woods was released Sunday on a $3000 personal recognizances bond. He's expected back in court on March 19th

Colorado State Patrol Cpl. Ryan Parker said the accident happened about 7 p.m. Saturday. A group of adults had finished working on the vehicle in a garage when one of the men backed the SUV out onto a gravel driveway, running over the girl. Three other adults, including the girl's mother, were present at the time.
Sgt. John Hahn Sunday morning said the girl's grandfather, 50-year-old Anthony Woods, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving,vehicular assault and careless driving. Hahn said the girl -- whose name was not released -- was in critical condition.
