WOONSOCKET -- Hours after a car struck a tree in Lincoln Saturday morning, the driver was charged with fatally stabbing a woman with whom he lived in a tenement in the city.
David Leite, 33, was charged with domestic first-degree murder in the death of Melissa Perry, 32, in the third-floor apartment they shared at 33 Ormond St.
When Lincoln officers responded about 9:40 a.m. to the crash scene on Louisquisset Pike, said Woonsocket police Lt. Eugene Jalette, they “obtained information of a possible deceased female” at the Ormond Street address. It appeared that Perry had been slain within the previous 48 hours, Jalette said.
Saturday night, after being treated at a hospital for minor injuries, Leite was brought before a bail commissioner who ordered him held at the Adult Correctional Institutions pending an appearance today in District Court, Providence, the police said
