In an ABC 4 exclusive, witnesses say a man exposed himself to four young girls in a Murray field on Sunday. It happened across the street from the girls' apartment building at 4941 S. Murray Boulevard.
The girls’ dads are responsible for catching the man accused of this lewd behavior.
Sunday morning,
four girls, ages nine to 14 were riding their bikes in a Murray field. “They noticed a gentleman coming near them 40-50 feet away. He waved at them. Next thing they know the guy approaches them. His pants were down around his knees and he was playing with his genitalia,” describes Brett Small, father of two of the girls.
The girls raced home to tell their dads. “They were bawling. We were very frantic. We got in our car, flew down here as fast as we could to search the area where the kids were riding,” adds Small.
They found a man sitting in his car across the street. Small recalls, “The 14-year-old immediately got hysterical and said that's the guy.”
The man took off. Small and his friend followed him for about 10 miles. “Yes chasing him through Murray and we're on 911 trying to get officers to come find us. He was going about 60 in a 25-30 mile per hour zone. It was pretty scary, we were trying to get close, he had a temporary tag in his window which the numbers are very small so you have to get close to read that,” recounts Small.
Murray Police caught up with the men and arrested 49-year-old
James Jenco.
“We felt that if he got away, that maybe this gentleman could do worse, do it again. So we were going to catch this guy no matter what,” states Small.
All four girls identified Jenco as the man who allegedly exposed himself to them.
Small says, he would do anything to protect his kids, “At the time if we would have found him, I don't think we would have been able to restrain ourselves. So it was actually very fortunate that he was in his vehicle and that we did not find him on foot because I don't know what would have happened.”
Jenco actually lives in the same apartment complex as the four girls. Small brought this situation to the manager's attention and the complex is now looking into possibly evicting Jenco.
Murray Police say Jenco is not listed on the sex offender’s registry and does not have a criminal record. Police add he has been booked on four counts of lewdness.
