Police say a 6-month-old boy is dead and his father's accused of killing him.

The six-month-old baby, Caden Sollman, is dead and doctors say it's because of being violently shaken. The baby's father, according to records, told police, he "jerked" Caden because the baby was being fussy and crying and he was frustrated.

Thirty-eight-year-old, Jeffery Sollman of Decatur is charged with first degree murder. Sollman told police, according to records, after he jerked Caden, he noticed the baby was acting differently, even breathing differently; he then left Caden in his crib.

Sollman then drove the baby to the lake because he says he thought he may be spending his last day with his son and he also thought the lake might soothe the baby. They then went back home, his wife and baby's mother came home he then told her he injured the baby.

She brought Caden to St. Mary's Hospital. The baby was airlifted to Peoria clinging to life, and then died Thursday morning.

It appears that Sollman admits to jerking his son but doctors say its shaken baby syndrome because of injuries like bleeding in the brain, seizures, and more.

Police say Sollman has a five-year-old daughter, but she does not live with him.

Laura Sollman reported that when she arrived home from work, her husband told her that he had hurt Caden and that she needed to take the baby to a doctor, Allen said. Jeffrey Sollman mentioned "jerking" the boy too hard when telling his wife how the boy had been injured, he said.

After being read his rights, Jeffrey Sollman advised officers that Caden was fussy and not eating or napping well through the day Wednesday, Allen said. Sollman stated he was seated on a couch feeding Caden and placed the boy next to him before grabbing the baby by the sides under his armpits, Allen said.

Sollman acknowledged being frustrated at the time because of Caden's behavior, Allen said. Sollman stated he forcefully put the boy against his shoulder, walked Caden to his crib and laid him down, leaving him for about 5 minutes before returning to check on him, Allen said. He stated Caden was lethargic and breathing differently at that time, Allen said.

What an asshole...he left him in that condition for most of the day???? He could have taken him in and he may still be alive!!!! He waited til the wife got home from work????? I think he was just scared to get in trouble...again...what as asshole! And when will these people learn...NOT TO SHAKE A BABY??????? It doesnt make them stop crying...it makes them stop BREATHING!!!!

And then you took him to the fucking lake because you thought it may be the last day you got to spend with him!!!

Did it never occur to you to put the baby in his crib before you damaged him irreperably? To put him in there and walk away until you felt calmer and able to cope? Once the critical point was passed and the damage done, did it never occur to you to take him to the fucking hospital????? It didnt have to be the 'last day' you got to spend with your child, if you had not been such a fucking cowardly piece of shit and had taken him to get help, he might - just might - still be here!

Thirty-eight-year-old, Jeffery Sollman has formally been charged with murder. His bond is set at $2-million.

Police initially arrested Sollman on charges of aggravated battery to a child. The Macon County State's attorney added one count of first degree murder after the baby died in a Peoria hospital Thursday.
