Shenell Phillips is NOT a fairy godmother; Baby Ahnesty is dead

A baby's God Mother who police say was driving drunk and under the influence, wound upin the east bound lanes of 56th Avenue while driving westbound early Saturday morning and caused a three-car accident that left one dead and three injured.

Dead is one-year old Ahnesty Brooks of Aurora. Her mother, Ashaka Hicks, is eight months pregnant and already has two boys. She is devestated by her daughter's death.

"Why didn't my friend bring my baby home instead of taking her with her while she was out drinking and doing drugs," said Ms. Hicks."I only live up the street from her she didn't have to take her out at three in the morning."

Police say the girl's God Mother was behind the wheel of a Toyota Camry early Saturday when she went on the wrong side of 56th Avenue toward eastbound traffic.

She ran head-on into two other cars, injuring two along with herself.

A 28-year-old woman has been charged with causing a toddler's death after she allegedly drove into another car while on the wrong side of the road Saturday.

Shenell Phillips is charged with child abuse resulting in death, two counts of vehicular homicide, four counts of vehicular assault and two counts of DUI.

Antonia Gutierrez, 59, and Juanita Dominguez, 59, who were in the car that Phillips hit, also were injured. They are in fair condition at Denver Health Medical Center. A Chevrolet Classic also was hit. The woman inside that car wasn't hurt.

I hope the drunk driver rots in hell.

But I'd also like to ask the mother why her one year old baby wasn't home with her to start with?

I have a baby girl who will be one in a couple of weeks and she stays nowhere but with me. No way in hell would I be leaving her overnight with anyone.

She is heavily pregnant with 2 boys and the baby girl. Also sounds like she is single. I gotta tell you even married pregnant with my 4th if my sister or my kids godmom wanted to keep one of them overnight I would say HELL YES!!! She trusted her. It wasn't like she was moms new penis or something. I don't see this being her fault at all, unless she knew the woman drove drunk on the regular.

Good question, all though I'm inclined to believe because she was doing drugs and drinking, she's a pathetic loser who cannot be trusted. Mother may have trusted her, and I'm not sure why she would, with a history of drug use alone, I would NEVER leave my child and I don't give a fuck how tired and desperate I was, I just don't think I would take the chance....maybe that's just me and my paranoid nature.

This is one mistake the mother can never take back. And as much as I don't want to place blame on a bereaved mother who is with child and has other children to care for alone, the fact remains, she was Ahnesty's soul protector, and we must question why she entrusted her with this woman.
Like I said, I wouldn't so much call it blame but rather questioning the mothers motives for leaving her with this so called "Godmother". I feel for this mother, really do. As as mother myself, and one who has made mistakes that involve my children, but I'd be damned to make on that involved a person who is even suggested to be involved with drugs and alcohol and would even consider driving while doing so. No one would have to condemn me, I'd be the first to blame myself and probably never forgive on this account.

I fucking hate drunk drivers and more so one who does so while high....I hope she rots in prison. Ahnesty is gone and it just didn't have to end this way. On thing is clear, it was this "Godmother" who stole Ahnesty's life and her alone who sent her to the heavens far too soon.

So very sorry sweet one...I know you were loved and will be missed.

The mother has no blame here, unless she knew of a past history. But even then, why on earth would anyone think that this "god mother" would be out at that hour with a baby?
I take my role as a god mother to two beautiful, now pre teens, very seriously. This woman was not a god mother, nothing she did has any thing to do with God

This woman had an extensive record. Seriously, folks, I would have never entrusted my precious baby to this woman, never would have made her God mother to my child either. There is no way, the mother wasn't aware of at least some of these charges...come on, really, "menacing with a deadly weapon, burglary and wrongs to minors??"wtf?.
She was out at 3am drinking, high, driving and probably looking to burglarize someone with a fucking deadly weapon. How is this different than a woman entrusting her baby with her penis with a record? Hell, some fuctards that we've read here didn't even have a prior record but they did kill the baby and we sure as fuck crucify him....Just because this was a pregnant mother with other children she shouldn't be judged? I I would even say she should have known better. I would certainly feel more lenient in passing any judgment if there were unusual circumstances why she left her baby with this bitch, but since we don't know that,
I'll stick to the facts at hand.

This woman's prior arrest record alone should of raised red flags for that mother, regardless how good of friends they were. I'm thinking the mother had a similar background as well, because there's no way she could not have known this about someone she chose to be her baby's God mother and still thought it was safe to let her have her child.

The woman was high and drunk going the wrong way down the road at 3 a.m. and she hit two cards head on! I have a hard time believing this was the very first time she drove high or drunk. I feel bad for anyone who loses a child, but I feel that this mother knew this woman and her habits and chose to ignore them. I'm not blaming her for the death of her child, just for making a very irresponsible decision when it came to her child's safety.
