Arthur Daniels WASHINGTON - D.C. police are searching for the gunman who killed a 14-year-old boy.
It happened shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday in the 4100 block of Minnesota Avenue. That is where police found 14-year-old Arthur Daniels of Northeast suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, his family members shared memories of the boy whose life was cut short.
His family says Daniels was a young boy who had a lot of dreams. He was going to church and wanted to become a pastor.
"My son is a good son, and why you want to shoot my son in the neck, and kill my son," said, Priscilla Daniels, the boy's mother.
Family and friends are trying to understand why someone would shoot the young boy while he was walking down the street.
"He stopped running for some reason, and that's when he got shot," said a church member.
Daniels's family says he was walking with members a his youth group when a car with several young men inside pulled up and started shooting.
"All of a sudden, one of the guys starts shooting out the car, and he caught my son," said, Arthur Daniels, the boy's father.
Daniels, shot in the neck, died at Prince George's Hospital an hour later.
At Victory Outreach Church, where Daniels played drums, there is a deep sense of loss
"He's always trying to take it a little further, trying to stay off the street and do something positive - and this happens," said Carl Demus, Victory Outreach leader.
"He was a typical teenager and he love people; he loved God," added a church member.
His family says they have no idea who would do this and are hoping someone comes forward with information.

The Metropolitan Police Department (web | news) currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

If the information provided by the caller to the Crime Solvers Unit leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
