The Alcohol Made Me Do It!

A man on a flight from Osaka to San Francisco had too much to drink. Soon after landing, he started beating his wife. After he ended up in police custody and sobered up, he didn't sheepishly apologize to his wife. Nope. He decided to sue United for serving him too much alcohol, which, he alleges, caused him become violent. The man, Yoichi Shimamoto, was arrested by police at a customs checkpoint after he struck his wife in the face half-a-dozen times. The suit alleges that United's cabin crew served him wine at 20-minute intervals throughout the flight and that he was so drunk that he could not control himself. Shinamoto and his spouse are seeking $100,000 from the airline as well as more money for pain and suffering.

Ya think? I can't believe his wife is in on the suit with him! Perhaps they planned it as a way to make easy money. Or else she is just terrified of him because the alcohol has nothing to do with his violent behavior. Asshat indeed.

It amazes me what some idiots will sue over. I saw one ages ago where a couple took their 3yr old to a pantomime, then tried to sue the theatre when their kid got hysterical with fright.

Apparently, thinking for yourself, exhibiting self control and common sense and taking responsibility for your own actions are no longer in vogue.

    Reminds me of this guy:

Richard Overton sued Anheuser-Busch for false and misleading advertising under Michigan State law. The complaint specifically referenced ads involving, among other things, fantasies of beautiful women in tropical settings that came to life for two men driving a Bud Light truck. In addition to two claims of false advertising, Mr. Overton included a third claim in his complaint in which he claimed to have suffered emotional distress, mental injury, and financial loss in excess of $10,0000 due to the misleading Bud Light ads. The court dismissed all claims.

People will sue over anything. This was my favorite when I worked at the hospital: A man sued the hospital because he said squirrels ruined his laundau top of his car, which he had parked under a very tall pine tree.

Security cams showed the car had been parked there about 7 hours, same spot on two consecutive days, backed in. He tried to sue us for a new car (around $10,000 at the time). We settled by paying his $100 ded and he could not come on our property for one year. He accepted. Stupid shit.

Can we get a group wide call of BULLSHIT?!? You don't just get drunk and for the one and only time ever knock your wife around. What a fucking tool and not the fun kind). He's wife most likely is pretty use to doing whatever she has to to keep the peace with this bastard.

Bullshit! There I did my part. I agree that this is not likely to be a one time incident. Who is he kidding?
