Tulsa - Charges are filed against parents of a boy with Down Syndrome, who killed himself.

Last month, 6-year-old Jeffery Allen shot himself in the face while playing with a gun. He died the next day.

Investigators say the gun used had been stolen during a recent burglary. The family told police it was not their gun and that one of the kids must have found it outside.

The parents, Douglas Allen and Amber Jordan were at home when it happened. They are now charged with felony child neglect charges.

The victim's three siblings are in protective custody.

Too many questions with this one.

1. Did he shoot himself in the yard or the house?

2. If in the yard, were the parents allowing their special needs kid to play outside unsupervised?

3. Are the parents being charged with having a weapon or with not knowing there was a weapon in their son's possession?

If the weapon was dropped after a robbery, and the parents didn't know about it, how could they be expected to know their son had it?

4. How severe was the boy's Down syndrome. Some cases are worse than others. It used to be considered a death sentence and everyone with it was institutionalized. Nowadays, children are given treatment and many adults are living longer than ever, and even living independently. So, how functional was the child? Just because a child is special needs, doesn't mean the parents are neglectful if they don't watch the child every moment. You can't prevent all accidents, no matter how hard you try.

Honestly, I would say that it depends on the neighborhood. There are some really rough areas in the US.

There are. I live in (an urban suburb of) a city with one of the highest murder rates in America. Still, millions of people live in these neighborhoods everyday and are not involved in violent crime at all. The odds of a small child randomly finding some unknown person's gun dropped in their yard are astronomical. It's a situation where, this could be the million-to-one crazy coincidence, or there could be more than meets the eye. I mean, Zaneida Fernandez-Gonzalez could have kidnapped Caylee, right?
