CENTRAL JERSEY — An Iselin man was arrested after posting an Internet ad offering $5,000 for someone to attack his ex-girlfriend, authorities said.
Karim S. Emara, 34, is accused of soliciting the assault on a Web site geared toward personal ads, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said. Specifically,
he wanted to hire someone to hit the woman in the knee with a blunt object, such as baseball bat, and cause permanent scar on her face, possibly by cutting, the prosecutor said.
Emara was arrested Wednesday night when he showed up to a prearranged meeting to provide the hired person with details of his ex-girlfriend, including her name, address and a photo, Molinelli said.
The arrest came after an investigation by the prosecutor's Computer Crimes Unit and Narcotics Task Force. Police from Lodi also took part, Molinelli said.
Emara, a computer programmer who lives in the Woodbridge Commons apartment complex, is charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated assault. He is being held at the Bergen County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail, with no 10-percent option.
