PORT CHARLOTTE: A teen seen streaking through the Port Charlotte Town Center offered up the naked truth and explained that, not only has he done it before, he's set off a bizarre criminal investigation.
It was a quiet day at the mall Saturday until 18-year-old Brandon Krueger was seen darting through shoppers wearing nothing but his birthday suit.
Reporter Anne Imanuel: Why do something like this?
Krueger: You know, I don't have an answer for that.
He went on to say he did out of boredom and said that he tried to cover himself up…a little.
Krueger: I had a sock over, but it fell off.
Imanuel: During the mall run?
Krueger: During the mall run.
Imanuel: And you didn't stop to pick it back up?
Krueger: No I did not stop. I had people chasing me.
Krueger says he was suspended in high school for doing the same thing.
And it turns out law enforcement already knows his face as well. He just got off probation for his role in stealing things from unlocked cars.
But he says the streaking was his latest stunt. After it happened, mall security filed a report, but deputies didn't have any evidence - until the video of it all happening surfaced.
We talked to some mall employees who saw the teen streaker. They say there are families around when the teen came running through the food court.
"All of the sudden we happened to look up and see a guy just running around buck naked," said food court employee Cory Wood.
Krueger says he's sorry if his stunt offended anyone and that he regrets posting it online.
Imanuel: Do you think that was a stupid move?
Krueger: Oh, of course it was a stupid move. It was all a stupid move. It's kind of funny now, won't be funny later.
The joke will be over if deputies decide to cover the streaker up with a jail jumpsuit.
Although the teen admitted to us that he's the streaker, deputies still plan to continue investigating.
In the coming days, they'll do a photo lineup to see if mall security can positively identify Krueger as the streaker.
He could face misdemeanor charges for exposing himself in public.
