FORT PIERCE — The 50-year-old driver had a beer can on top of his pick-up truck and was drinking a
cold Natural Ice when the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Deputy approached.
The situation for
Johnnie Ed Roberts, who had bloodshot eyes and
incoherent speech, likely did not improve late Wednesday
when investigators noticed he’d urinated on himself while they spoke to him on North 27th Street.
A 911 caller earlier reported a black pick-up truck was “traveling the streets of Fort Pierce weaving all over the road” with a beer can perched on top of the cab. Roberts, of the 1200 block of North 22nd Street, was asked to step from the vehicle.
“I told him to grab his right shoe and he just looked down at his feet and started stumbling around saying what shoe,” the recently-released affidavit states.
He reportedly interrupted a deputy as the deputy asked whether he’d perform field sobriety exercises, saying, “
You a mother (expletive) and ain’t all that.”
Roberts was arrested on a
DUI charge and urinated in the deputy’s patrol vehicle on the ride to jail. At the jail, Roberts
“urinated again all over himself.”
Rather than blow into the breath test machine, Roberts tried to suck the air out and then stopped blowing. (
I think he thought it was another cold frothy beverage. )
In addition to the DUI charge, Roberts also faces a refusal to submit to a lawful breath test charge.
