FORT PIERCE — A homeless man was charged with disorderly intoxication and causing a public disturbance after allegedly becoming a
“spectacle” at a Super 8 Motel in Fort Pierce, according to arrest affidavit released Sunday by the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.
Eric Thomas Ambrose, 31, who was
listed as homeless in the report, had
“thrown himself onto the ground and was curled up to a black hand bag,” at the motel when officers arrived at the lobby.
When questioned about his behavior,
officers noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from Ambrose. According to the report, he said “
he had no where to go and he can’t go back to his home state because they have methamphetamine. Ambrose then stated that Fort Pierce only had crack,” which keeps him high for a little while and was “safer for him.”
Ambrose
began cursing about how “we won’t find him a place to live,” according to the affidavit, which said he “
became so loud” that several guests started to observe the “spectacle” Ambrose was causing, which could “be heard throughout the complex.”
Officers placed him under
arrest for disorderly intoxication after a fifth warning.
The report said,
“while enroute to the jail, the defendant became combative, smashing the glass partition” in the vehicle. Ambrose, whose home state was not listed in the report, is in St. Lucie County Jail on $250 bond.
