PALM BAY, Fla. -- Palm Bay police on Tuesday arrested a man accused of sexual battery on a 12-year-old girl whom he baby-sat, officials said.

Noel Kelly, 34, of Palm Bay, was arrested on a warrant for five counts of capital sexual battery on a child under the age of 12 and one count of sexual battery on a child over age 12. The sexual abuse began when the victim was 11 years old, said Yvonne Martinez, spokeswoman for the Palm Bay Police Department, in a news release.

"When he was baby-sitting, he would call the child into his bedroom, where he locked the door and forced to her to have sex with him," said Palm Bay police Detective Greg Guillette. "He threatened her if she told anyone."

"Detectives also think that there might potentially be other victims in the case," Martinez told Local 6 News partner Florida Today.

Noel Kelly, 34, is from Palm Bay and investigators were questioning him Tuesday about the case involving the one child they know about, but they are also trying to find out about a possible second victim they have not yet been able to identify.

Kelly didn't put up any sort of struggle when he was taken in for questioning Tuesday morning outside of his Palm Bay home. Police said he befriended a family that just moved to the area a little more than a year ago.

Investigators said Kelly offered to babysit the then 11-year-old girl while the girl's mother had to work an occasional day shift. Investigators said Kelly would call the child into his room, lock the door, force her to perform sexual acts and threatened her if she told.

The young victim didn't say anything at first. Investigators said one of the suspect's friends found out about it and word got back to the child's mother, who called police.

Police said, based on their interviews, they believe there is at least one more victim, but they haven't been able to identify that other girl.

The police arranged some kind of set up where they recorded the child and Kelly talking in his home. Kelly tried to convince the child to blame the sexual assaults on her brother. Jeebus...what a worthless sack of shit.

Where is the mother's brain in all this! 12 year old's don't need babysitters. Hell, I babysat my sisters and the neighbor's kids at that age. Most 12 year old girls are physically developed with boobs and hips. They don't need some old perverted guy hanging around while they are alone and vulnerable. The mom might not have meant to harm her daughter, but her stupidity (or maybe naivete) is what got her daughter into this mess.
