FAIRFIELD -- Police on Sunday afternoon had to use a Taser gun to subdue and then arrest a Fairfield teenager who allegedly assaulted his parents at 13 Old County Road.
Travis Ireland, 18, is being held at Somerset County Jail in Skowhegan on a domestic-assault charge. Officer Tom Rowe said Ireland first cleared a psychological examination at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville, then was arrested.
Officer Jake Pearce responded to a call about the confrontation around 12:40 p.m. and later used the Taser on Ireland, Rowe said. Pearce then handcuffed him, Rowe said.
Rowe said Ireland had pushed his mother, Leonette Ireland, 51, and had thrown items at her. Ireland's father, Don Ireland, then intervened, Rowe said.
"The father confronted him and he attacked the father," Rowe said.
Don Ireland suffered facial injuries but did not require hospitalization, Rowe said.
Rowe said he did not know what precipitated the altercation.
