WOW what a repeat of what has happened here.I work as a geriatrics nurse but since the city is short on nurses all over the place I do 2-3 nights at a Psych home.A few months ago and man and wife decided that their 33 yr old son should be moved from our Psych home to a rest home.A Psych home carries a stigma for some people and rest home is more acceptable and these people have money so it was better for them not him. Each month they get a cheque and they have spending money and this guy had to have smokes all the time. What we did was hide a few packs (that we paid from our money) so that near the end of month he would have some.He would get right flippy if he didnt have smokes & his family wouldnt give him extra for smokes if he ran out.So we would go to our stash and get him 1 or 2 but we always made sure he had them. Also at our home they HAVE to take meds,we give them to them and make sure they take them.At rest home its up to them.So he ran outta smokes and went asking for some and no one would give him any and he beat a 65 yr old man to death b/c he knew that man some and wouldnt spot him any.Just so his family with money didnt have the stigma of a Psych home resident in the family they now have a murder trial coming up.
