locked up a registered sex offender not just once but twice in the last two weeks. A northeast side mother says he's the man who stalked her daughter and possibly other teenage girls in their neighborhood.
A woman believes she tracked down the man who stalked her 17-year-old daughter. The teenager ran to a nearby friend's house in their neighborhood for safety.
"She ended up back home and she said, 'That man tried to get me in the van.' I said, 'What man?'" said the alleged victim's mother, who reported the incident to 911.
The concerned mother says she learned the man's identity online via Indiana's sex offender registry. A jury convicted Benjamin Lee in April 2007 on two counts of child solicitation.
The teen's mother and her friends searched the neighborhood for him and found him.
Metro officers arrested Lee, a registered sex offender, for failing to carry proper identification. Police officers went to Lee's home to verify his sex offender registry address again, which this time included searching his home. That search led to yet another arrest.
"While searching where he was staying in the house they found what appears to be cocaine and paraphernalia so he was locked up again on that," said Sgt. Matthew Mount, IMPD.
Officers say they found the paraphernalia in Benjamin Lee's shoes. Now Lee faces additional charges including possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
"Some other child may not be fortunate to get away," said the girl's mother.
Now the mother who tracked him down wants everyone in the neighborhood to know who he is.
