Shekir Deshawn Thomas raped a 1 y.o. child

A 19-year-old man accused of raping a 1-year-old girl earlier this month in a house in Allentown was arraigned Tuesday night, according to a court document.

Shekir Deshawn Thomas of no known address allegedly committed the act about 11:15 a.m. Feb. 4, police said in the court document. The girl's father caught the man making the girl perform a sex act on him, police said.

According to the court document:

Thomas was on the second floor of a home with the girl's father. Thomas went down stairs.

A short time later the father went downstairs to check on his daughter. The father found Thomas and the girl in the kitchen.

Thomas was engaged in a sex act with the girl. When the father asked what was going on, Thomas rushed out the home.

The girl was taken to the hospital and evaluated.

Her father gave police Thomas' name.

Police did not say when or where they arrested Thomas. But on Tuesday, Allentown District Judge David Leh arraigned Thomas on a rape charge and sent him to Lehigh County Prison under $100,000 bail.

The toddler's father tells 69 News he and Shekir Deshawn Thomas were on the second story of an Allentown home when he thought Thomas went downstairs to leave. The father says when he went downstairs a few minutes later.. he saw Thomas making the toddler to perform oral sex. The father says Thomas yelled, "I don't know what I'm doing," put the baby back in her crib and ran out of the home. The incident is alleged to have happened February 4th.. February 17th, Thomas was arraigned on charges of rape of a child, indecent assault and corruption of minors.

The little girl's father says he and Thomas' brother were shot in Jersey last month.. Thomas' brother died. He says he doesn't know if grief over his brother's death had anything to do with Thomas alleged's sexual assault on his daughter.
