Michele L. Blalock Robbed Banks Because Her Husband Has a Drug Habit

MANATEE COUNTY – Authorities believe they have nabbed the woman responsible for a recent string of robberies in Manatee County.

Michele L. Blalock, 38, has been arrested in connection with three bank robberies in Manatee County and may also be a suspect in a Sarasota County bank robbery, said Dave Bristow, Manatee Sheriff’s spokesman.

Blalock admitted to committing the three robberies Wednesday morning, saying she needed money because her husband has a drug habit, Bristow said.

Blalock came into authorities’ sights after a witness to one of the robberies spotted her and called deputies.

Authorities say Blalock was behind a 12:45 p.m. Saturday robbery at a Bank of America, located at 3401 Cortez Road W.

Blalock is also a suspect in a Feb. 4 robbery at a Fifth Third bank, at 6550 Cortez Road W., and a Jan. 30 robbery at another Fifth Third bank, at 6601 Manatee Ave. W.

There were no injuries in any of the robberies.
