Edgar Montalvo gets "Wii-rage" and holds his family hostage with a billy club.

    Edgar Montalvo, 46

NEW BRITAIN — A Commonwealth Avenue man was charged with threatening and unlawful restraint Sunday after allegedly saying he’d kill his family and burn the house down.

Edgar Montalvo, 46, of 38 Commonwealth Ave. was arrested after police arrived to check out an anonymous complaint that he was holding his family hostage with what witnesses described as a “billy club.” Officers could hear Montalvo yelling as they approached the home and were quietly let in the back door by his wife, police reports said.

The woman told police Montalvo became enraged when their son didn’t pause his Nintendo Wii game system fast enough to let in their barking dogs. He grabbed the game, smashed it and tossed the remnants out the front door, where police found them.

The woman said he pried her car keys out of her hand and refused to allow her and his son to leave. Witnesses said he used a billy club to hit the car of another family member car who tried to take the 14-year-old from the home.

At least twice, Montalvo told his wife he’d kill her, their children and himself and then burn down the house if she left him over his heroin use or called police, police said.

He was charged with disorderly conduct, second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree threatening, third-degree assault, two counts of second-degree unlawful restraint and risk of injury to a minor. He was held on bond until his appearance Monday in New Britain Superior Court. He is being held on $150,000 bond

    Wii-rage man holds family hostage
In what may be one of the first documented cases of Wii-rage, a man held his family hostage after his son didn't pause a game soon enough.
Edgar Montalvo, 46, of Connecticut, flew into a rage when his son didn't pause his Nintendo Wii game quickly enough. Montalvo wanted the boy to look after the barking dogs.

Montalvo then smashed the Wii and threw it out the window. But for some unknown reason that wasn't enough to satisfy his anger and he decided to keep the entire family hostage using a billy club as a weapon.

He was charged with disorderly conduct, second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree threatening, third-degree assault, two counts of second-degree unlawful restraint and risk of injury to a minor.

There appeared to be no wii-related charges

I'd call that a big YES.

Ha. Reminds me of the time my husband (now my ex) got mad at our daughter because she didn't turn the tv off to do her homework. He took the bolt cutters and cut the cable to the TV.

I took that end and hid it. When he wanted to fix the cable later that nite to watch 60 minutes I told him forget it I was keeping it hidden. We went without TV for a week. She discovered books, and he discovered a lot of other things.

Someone would have to be a pretty fast damn runner to menace me with a billy club. Just saying.

Mom probly gave it to him for Christmas.

In one of the links I posted, the mom was commenting there, telling people to shut the hell up and mind there own bees wax. She was worried the children would see the story's. Guess what, this got picked up on the AP and I have seen it posted world fucking wide. LOL , cats out of the bag mom.

If her husband is so freakin Whackey he NEVER belong near any children or in the home. She fucked up bad allowing a jonesing heroin addict into the house so fuck her. The FuckWhit said he was going to kill her and the kids, come on, she had to have known he was unstable. Geez. Like always its the kids paying for the parents fuck ups.
