Sweet Tanner Doran Killed by Blunt Force Trauma

Sweet little Tanner Doran, with the beautiful, soulful eyes, who loved Mickey Mouse, climbing on things and cars was murdered in December. By blunt force trauma.

JEWELL, Iowa -- The death of a central Iowa toddler in December is now being classified as a homicide, Jewell police said.

The Iowa Medical Examiner's Office determined that 15-month-old Tanner Doran died of blunt force trauma. Those who knew the boy said they're having a hard time coming to terms with it.

"He was always smiling and happy," said neighbor Michelle Dickerson.

We are interviewing suspects, witnesses and continuing our investigation," he said.

Butler said Tanner lived with his mother and her boyfriend at a house in Jewell. He said no one had been ruled out as suspects in the case.

Dickerson, a frequent baby sitter for the boy, said Tanner's mom told her that she found him in his bed, not breathing.

"She just said something came out of his mouth and it was brown," Dickerson said.

She said that no one claimed to know what happened.

"I can't believe either one of them hurt Tanner because they both really seemed to love him," she said.

Here is a dead precious baby. Sounds like two adults had access to him during the time just prior to his death, and dammit, I want to know who killed him!

He is only 2 months younger than my sweet pea, and lord, look at him, he's just a doll. Who could hurt this little one? Did he die alone in bed crying...?
