Search is on for Mom who left 3 children with Homeless Woman

    http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcont...d2674.html?npc

Dallas police are trying to find a mom who left three children with a homeless woman at a bus stop earlier this week.
5300 block of Harry Hines Boulevard in Dallas

The children were left at a bus stop in the 5300 block of Harry Hines Boulevard near Parkland Memorial Hospital on Monday, according to a Dallas police report. The mother told the homeless woman she would return within the hour.

After hours had passed and the mother still had not returned, the homeless woman took the children to a Child Protective Services office off Interstate 35E. The children, who were not injured, were placed in the care of CPS.
    more at the link.

The homeless woman did the right thing. And I applaud her for that. The mother should be charged.

Good thing she wasn't a severely mentally ill homeless woman. Kudos to her for taking care of those kids!

Keep us posted PJ, this is an interesting case for sure!

    Mother Will not be charged

    Ann Hester

    http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcont...d2674.html?npc

A mom who left her three children in the care of a homeless woman will not face any criminal charges because it did not appear she had meant to abandon them, Dallas police said this afternoon.

    Ann Hester

Ann Hester, who is also homeless, left her children in the care of a friend on Monday at the Salvation Army in the 5300 block of Harry Hines Boulevard, Dallas police said.

edit: Here's her myspace. Makes you wonder what happened to her in the past 2 years.

Hester was arrested later in the day on accusations of assault on a public servant, obstruction and evading arrest, according to Dallas County court records.
It seems as though, she was arrested but was going to go back to her children. Because she was arrested, this isn't considered abandonment. Although, with a mother who is willing to leave her 3 children under 5 with a homeless friend and get into an altercation with a police officer seems like she would need to take some steps before she gets them back.

    WTF?

Mom: Hey strange homeless woman. Can you keep an eye on my kids for an hour?
Homeless woman: Sure! Take your time.
    **one hour passes**
Homeless woman: She's not coming back!

This is bizarre. The mom is a nut case and doesn't deserve these kids. The ages were not indicated, but I'm sure they'll know something and the authorities will find her soon enough. When we get a pic of her I am dying to see it.

Cause she left, and was intending to go back for her kids but she got arrested for hitting an officer. That's why she's not being charged. I wonder why she didn't say anything at the police station about her kids. Maybe she did and they didn't believe her.

What mom in her right mind is going to tell the cops "Hey! I left my kids with some homeless chick."

They may have given her the kids back but I'm willing to bet she won't have them for long.

I cannot believe they gave her the children back so easily. If she left them with a homeless lady who the hell else will she be willing to leave them with. Since when is saying I was going to come back for my kids I left with the homeless but I was arrested a good enough reason to say oh well hell in that case , heres your kids.

The mother herself, and therefore her kids are homeless also. How do you justify returning the kids if they have no where to go but the streets?? Our child welfare system never ceases to amaze me.

I'm concerned because she is homeless, and if she is really able to properly care for these children. She left them with another homeless person, no place of shelter or food...can't really help much if they had a basic need now could she.

I feel for her, I really do, but I think she should get some help and fast. These kids shouldn't be raised on the streets, no child should have to grow up that way.

Be well and happy little ones.

I cant say 100% , but what I think happened is both of the women in the story are not homeless per sey, I believe they are acually staying at the Salvation Army. So they have a roof over there heads, food and shelter. There not living on the street but in a , well lets call it a group home.

My twin was homeless because he was a drunk, I was trying to get him out of the gutter and into a place were he could get help. One of the places I checked was the Salvation army. They pretty much give you a bunk in a room with other people the same sex as you and feed you 3 times a day. But they don't let you sit around all day , they put you into programs and you have to work like 4 hours a day in there stores or other places. Its not a free ride and you have to meet certain requirements.

Anyhoo the point is none of them were out on the street and they were being taken care of by the Salvation army. Ann, probly left her kids with another woman in the shelter and got arrested , so she couldnt return right away. She probly assumed the kids were fine and being taken care of. And she would be out of jail the same day.

You may be right, Taz. The salvation army is right across from Parkland Hospital, and that's apparently where the bus stop is located. I also wouldn't be surprised if she did tell the cops and they didn't believe a word she said. So, here's to hoping that she really is staying at the Salvation army.
