LEESBURG -- A 51-year-old woman was arrested on child abuse charges Monday night, apparently after deputies discovered a registered sex offender hiding near a child's crib.
Lisa Louise Glynn, of Leesburg, also was charged with resisting arrest by obstruction. She was being held in the Lake County jail in lieu of $5,500 bail.
Lake County Sheriff's deputies and officials with Department of Children and Families arrived at Glynn's 103 Moss St. home Monday evening after tips that her boyfriend was a registered sex offender and lived at the home.
Leesburg police records list Leslie Brent, 46, as a sex offender, registered as living at Glynn's home.
According to an arrest affidavit, when officers knocked at the door to question Glynn, they assumed she was alone with the child. Glynn denied to deputies and DCF officials that any man lived at the home and said Brent was just a friend who came over to her home about once a month -- when the child was away at daycare.
Officials became suspicious when they saw pictures of Brent in her home.
When deputies pulled up a picture up of Brent on their computer and showed it to the child, the child apparently started yelling the name "Leslie."
When a deputy began to search the home, the report adds, Glynn moved a pile of clothing at the end of the child's crib -- where Brent was discovered hiding.
The report stated Glynn was accused of child abuse by committing an "intentional act by letting a known sexual offender (stay in the home) that could reasonably be expected to result in physical or mental injury."
Glynn was arrested and the child was taken by DCF.
