A 30-year-old Fullerton woman is recovering from stab wounds to her arm and chest after a machete-wielding man attacked her outside a market.
The altercation began inside the Arbor Market when the man, who police say they later identified as Elmer Davenport, 52, of Anaheim, made what have been described as inappropriate comments to the victim's friend.
The victim's husband took offense, an argument ensued and the dispute moved outside.
When the woman tried to intercede, the man swung the machete-type knife, slashing the woman in the arm and across the chest. He rode away on his bicycle before the victim was taken to Anaheim Memorial Hospital, where police were called.
After questioning the victim, police searched an area near Valencia Drive and Brookhurst Road and located Davenport.
The man was positively identified and taken to the City Jail where he was booked on suspicion of attempted murder.
The victim, whose name was not released, is recovering at home.
