A City of Poughkeepsie man has been charged in the death of a 4-year-old girl.
Edgar Reza, 21, was charged with second-degree manslaughter.
Reza allegedly pulled a blanket out from under the child's feet, causing her to fall and hit her head. He then allegedly shook the child.
Police said Reza called the child's mother, his girlfriend, at work at 2:15 a.m. He told the mother the child was in distress and she came home.
The child was taken to Vassar Brothers Hospital by city police. Around 5:30 a.m. Friday, the child was flown to Westchester Medical Center.
The girl died Saturday morning, said city police.
An autopsy found she died of bleeding and damage to her brain.
