Deputies said a man violently attacked his victim by choking her, stepping on her head and trying to twist her neck in an attempt to kill her on Sunday.
Sebastian Grimmage, 39, remains at the Orange County Jail this mornings and faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery with great bodily harm, aggravated assault with domestic violence, false imprisonment and tampering with a witness, jail records show. He is being held without bond.
The victim's relationship to Grimmage was not released. She was transported to Florida Hospital South with non-life-threatening injuries.
Orange County Sheriff's Office reports show that Grimmage had been smoking crack on Feb. 1 when he started arguing with the woman sometime after 10:41 p.m. in the Pine Hills area. At some point, he began to choke the woman. She escaped temporarily, but he grabbed her and in the bathroom and beat her head against the tile.
The victim grabbed a phone, ran outside and called 911 to report the attack. When Grimmage heard her on the phone, he knocked her to the ground and started to kick the woman's face and neck. He also jumped on her head several times.
Witnesses told deputies they saw Grimmage try to twist her neck after beating her in an attempt to kill her, the report shows. After the violent beating, Grimmage left the residence. Deputies found him walking down the street. The sheriff's report shows he admitted to beating the woman.
Court records show Grimmage was arrested in 2008 on charges of domestic battery, but those charges were later dropped.
