Alvin Meyer copped a feel at the nursing home

SPRINGFIELD TWP. – A 63-year-old man was charged Sunday with fondling a physically handicapped patient at a nursing home.

Alvin Meyer was visiting his wife Sunday at ManorCare Mount Airy, 2250 Banning Road, when he was accused of assaulting the woman.

Nursing home spokeswoman Julie Beckert said the woman was able to immediately tell staff what happened. The staff called police.

The patient is OK, Beckert added, declining to discuss her medical condition due to medical privacy laws.

Beckert said the incident occurred in the woman's room. Meyer’s wife and the woman do not share a room.

Beckert described the incident as isolated and said administrators are going over procedures today with employees on how to handle such situations. ManorCare Mount Airy has 105 residents.

“It is very unusual,” she said.

Meyer, who lives in the 3300 block of Banning Road near ManorCare, was booked into the Hamilton County jail about 11:30 p.m. Sunday on a charge of gross sexual imposition, court records show.
