Wendy Warren injured in ditch her 2 yr. old wandering on highway.

Kentucky State Police are investigating an apparent hit-and-run that left a young girl wandering a busy highway alone at night and her mother injured in a ditch.

State police in Harlan say they received a report on Tuesday night that a 2- or 3-year-old girl was wandering alone on U.S. 119 in nearby Bell County.

By the time troopers arrived, a couple had stopped and gotten the child to safety. Police later found her mother, 25-year-old Wendy Warren of Kettle Island, unconscious in a ditch about 150 yards away.

The Harlan Daily News reports Warren was flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where she is in critical condition. Her daughter, Emily, was released into the custody of her father.

Trooper Brent Sizemore said the mother and daughter were reportedly walking along the road's shoulder when they were hit.

Sounds like the mother was doing the right thing walking on the outside of the by the road and keeping her baby away from the traffic edge.

What a low-life, asshole to leave someone you hit, and more so with a baby. Can't imagine the baby was in a calm state, could have easily walked right into oncoming traffic. I pray this mother recovers completely to be reunited with her baby. I hope the father is good and kind to his baby as he watches over her.

A mother, found in a ditch on US 119 in Bell County, has died from injuries she received during a hit and run.

25-year-old Wendy Warren was found by police Tuesday night, unconscious, in a ditch.

A passerby found her 3-year-old daughter, Emil,y walking alone on the road.

Police say Warren died Wednesday at University of Tennessee Medical Center.

Police are now searching for a car with damage to the front passenger side headlight.

Emily is now with her father.

That really sucks. Last I read the doctors thought she was imporving. Leaves behind a baby and husband....so tragic. I hope they find this fucker.
